The spectacle of an ever-changing theatre
The cultural heritage of the Marche region boasts a large number of historic theatres, precious jewels that have experienced alternating fortunes and that have seen so much art pass by on their glorious stages. Between the 18th and 19th centuries, even the smallest municipalities boasted a theatre. Thanks to considerable regional investment, it has been possible over time to return these treasures to the community. Thus, a hundred or so have once again become active and constitute a living, breathing cultural heritage.
Named after the majestic bird of prey that is the symbol of the city (aquila is Italian for eagle), Aquila Theatre in Fermo is one of the largest historic theatres in the region.
